Free SAT Essay Evaluation

Want to improve your essay-writing skills for the SAT? To become a better writer, you need to practice and receive critical feedback on your work. Unfortunately, if you take the SAT, you won’t get that feedback on your essay. You’ll only get three scores, which we feel is not enough to help you improve your SAT writing. That’s where Austin Writing Shop wants to help! From now until July 31st, we are offering free critical feedback on SAT essays submitted by students. Both of our two writing experts will read your essay, provide a numerical score (just like the real SAT), and offer detailed feedback on your essay’s strengths and weaknesses.

To qualify for this service, please submit the following to submit@austinwritingshop.com:

  1. Your original SAT essay.
  2. The prompt you used to write your essay. You can use one of the two prompts on the College Board website: Prompt 1 and Prompt 2.

SAT Writing & Essay Prep Course

The Austin Writing Shop is excited to offer a $50.00 course that will help you prepare for the Writing section of the SAT, including the essay portion. Unlike other sessions offered by most test prep companies, our course will be small and individual-driven. Your instructors are highly-qualified writing instructors with a combined 3 years of teaching college writing, 2 advanced degrees, and several years of experience tutoring in several subjects, including test preparation.

The course will cover the following topics:

  1. SAT essay. We will outline the best strategies for writing an impressive SAT essay. You will also write 3 essays during the course and receive individualized feedback from both instructors on all of the essays.
  2. Writing Multiple Choice Questions. We will review the most common sentence errors included in the test, the types of improvements you will be expected to make at the sentence and paragraph level, and the conventions of Standard Written English that are most commonly tested.

The course will be 3 and a half hours, over 2 weeks, and costs $50.00 per person.
